One more reason to vote for Kerry
I'm nearly done with Dispatches from the Culture Wars, which makes an excellent case for why the Democrats have lost the youth vote, particularly in the last election where Gore had no margin amongst young voters, unlike Clinton who had a 19 point margin. It's obvious rereading how Gore lost the election that Kerry is strong in many places where Gore was weak, no matter how hard the media tries to tell you otherwise.
Anyway, reading a part where Goldberg talks about facing off with Lieberman this time instead of Gore in anti-entertainment business Senate hearings that attacked mostly hip-hop and I was disappointed as he was to see that Democrat after Democrat got up with the Republicans and whined about rap. The only two Senators that Goldberg states sided with the anti-censorship side were Barbara Boxer, who argued that gun control was the proper way to address youth violence.....and John Kerry, who said that he didn't see how this was any different than whey they used to go after Elvis Presley and the Beatles.
You know, in case anyone was wondering. (See, I told you I liked him.)

Now that is cool. Thanks for posting that. Kerry opposed it, and for the right reasons, unlike Senator Boxer who I otherwise admire very much.

My bet is that Sen. Boxer opposed censorship, too, but she didn't want to waste her valuable time at the microphone saying what John Kerry would soon say. She probably wanted to lay a proper guilt trip about gun control.

Go Kerry! It should be obvious that young people having fun is, ceteris parabis, a good thing, not just something we put up with because the consequences of quashing it would be too grave for our civil liberties.
