Creating a frame for understanding terrorism

The American Street has a really good post on understanding how most Americans understand the war in Iraq and the war on terrorism. Basically, his point is that detailed criticisms of how things are going is ineffective and that Kerry, etc. needs to provide the public with a different frame to understand the situation than Bush's. It's a good post with good suggestions, but it also makes me despair. There's no motivation for BushCo to grow up and quit sacrificing American lives, because there's too much money to be made for campaign contributors if this war can go on indefinitely. But I'm not holding out hope that Kerry can convince people that non-military solutions are a better bet, either. In fact, I would be surprised if he addresses that subject at all during his campaign.
