The last ditch chance of someone in the wrong

Is to imply that their opponent is taking things too seriously. The way that the right wing pundits handled Al Gore's speech reminds me of that scene in the movie Run Ronnie Run where Ronnie's wife has to bail him out of jail for like the 500th time, and instead of doing it she just gets mad and yells at him. And he says, "Hey baby, don't flip the bitch switch on me."
You see the accusation that someone who is expressing righteous anger is dismissed as crazy in all sorts of situations and it may be one of the lowest, meanest, most retarded attacks. Really, the only worse one is to go after somebody's sexuality, another favored Republican right wing smear machine ploy. Schoolyard bullies are fond of implying that their victims are taking things too seriously when they get angry. And of course, the favored ploy of people who make us unhappy by being too real, medicate them:

They are just expressing a common method of shooting the messenger--medicating the person who's behavior is highlighting the problem. Stuffing a depressed housewife full of Valium doesn't make her happy but it makes her fix dinner with less complaining. Stuffing schoolchildren full of Ritalin doesn't fix the schools but it makes the kids calm down so that the teacher can handle more of them.*
If the Republicans think that they can dismiss everyone who is angry about what this administration is doing as over-reacting and probably in need of medication, they are going to have to have their friends in the pharmaceticual industry start working overtime on making the sedatives. They don't seem to understand that this isn't a game where somebody is a little too angry about losing. No, there are 800+ soliders dead and no end in sight of the casualities.
No, there's nothing crazy about being angry. In fact, if you can look at those prison torture pictures without your blood boiling, then it's time to worry that you've gone over the edge.

*Yes, I realize there are alot of people with mental conditions that require these drugs. But I really do think there's a tendency to medicate people who don't need it because it's easier than addressing the real problems.
