The whining of the Shrub

Roxanne puts the Shrub into his place with his non-apology. I love it. When he came on the radio today with the phoniest of phony Rovian attempts to turn a bad issue into a positive, I wanted to throttle him. I will say this--the Shrub somehow managed to feed that line of bullshit to the press without his trademark, "can you believe these morons?" smirkiness. He must be really desperate. Still, the press needs to hammer him. God, won't someone say, "Excuse me, Mr. President. I didn't ask about 527's. I asked what you thought of the allegations made by the Swift Boat Veterans."

Roxanne hopes this is the end of it. I can sympathize. But on the other hand, this whole debacle is probably going to bolster the Kerry campaign in the end. I wish they would talk about the issues, I really do. But trying to bring up the issues with the Fratboy will only elicit answers like, "Well-I-I think all Americans-believe in puppies--puppies and rainbows." This however is killing the Shrub. As annoying as it is, everyday that Jon Stewart gets to make jokes about how Kerry was fighting and getting wounded while Bush was snorting coke and playing frat jokes is a day that more of those who like Bush 'cause they think he's tough are going to suffer from the sort of cognitive dissonance that keeps them home or even makes them change their votes. I hate it, too, but it might just help our side win in a walk.

Jon Stewart is a thing of beauty and a joy forever.

Do you really think this'll work to Kerry's advantage? I hope so but I find myself doubting it. Even "liberal" publications like the NY Times are portraying this in a "he said/he said" way and equating MoveOn with the anti-Kerry liars--and I just don't know what Joe or Jane Swing Voter is going to think of it.

The worst thing that this will do is drive Joe and Jane voter to stay home, which I wish wouldn't happen but knew from the beginning that driving down voter turnout is Rove's major strategy. These sort of confusing, negative methods tend to make people want to stay home. But Rove is playing a strategy that is harder to control than he thinks it is. Now that it's turned into a big dick contest, men, especially those who have authoritative attitudes and are likely to vote for the Repubs, are going to start getting disgusted with the whole thing, I'm guessing.

It does concern me that the media seems to be busting its butt to make sure that despite the fact that this nonsense should tank Bush, that it will work in his favor. The he said/he said stuff is just infuriating--okay, what did the *Navy* say? That's just Journalism 101.

During this whole mess. The only person I have heard in the media speak on the issues is the President. I have heard him repeatedly denounce the negative attacks over the last two years against him. Never have I heard Senator Kerry denounce the negative attacks against the President.

I think they are both idiots and both bad for this country. Be informed. ABB is not always the answer. Kerry is a fraud and will say anything to get elected. At least President Clinton did it well. Senator Kerry can't even get say the same thing to two opposite groups without contrdicting what he said the day before.

They are both aweful vote John Edwards for President. You can do it. Vote early and vote often. Get all of your friends to vote for Edwards. Show the country that the primary process does not adequately reflect the desires of the country.

If you want John Edwards to be President, suck it up and vote for Kerry. Good god, learn some patience! Eight years of being VP will give Edwards a golden chariot to the White House in 2012.

Coins are my passion. I love to look at them and hold. I think about the history of the coin in hand. Who used it at one time? Where has it been? Did this Morgan dollar actually participate in a poker game in the old west? Did someone get shot for cheating? Its fascinating when you consider this type question. So much history in a litle piece of metal.
