Blue ink, a woman's shame

From The Well-Timed Period, we find this woman has newly learned from American television that women apparently leak blue ink.

But this standing up and then leaking blue ink, is something new to me. I know it must be true because the advert was so confiding and helpful. It told me that it understood my shame. My secret, unknown unspoken shame. My blue ink discharge. So I guess I have to go out and buy some of those pads tomorrow, in case I ever sit for a long time in a light-coloured chair and suddenly everyone knows I leak blue ink.

While we're on the subject of things that make people squirm, am I alone in wondering how douches make anyone money anymore? Are there really enough women out there buying Summer's Eve to keep them solvent enough to keep buying airtime? Doesn't everyone know by now that vaginas clean themselves? Who the hell wants to smell like a douche anyway?

Really, it's a mystery to me.
