Further proof that Texas Republicans just don't get it
Rumors are abounding that some delegates want to amend the Texas Republicans' platform to call for laws punishing ministers who conduct gay marriages.
This is a good example of why religious people need to support the separation of church and state (and yes, I know many do). Here is a group of people that want to use state power to force ministers to adhere to religious beliefs that are not their own. Obviously, if a minister is conducting a gay marriage ceremony, then his/her church believes in gay marriage. If the state comes in and stops that, it seems like straight up religious oppression to me.
