Interesting article

Here's a good article about measures that are being taken to make it easier for doctors to find out if their patients have been victims of sexual assault and what to do about it. Considering that 20% of women will be assaulted in their lifetimes, but most won't report it, doctors can be an enormous help in encouraging women to come to terms with their experiences, get help for them, and if possible have the attacker brought to justice.

I am firmly of the opinion that one of the reasons that sexual assault is so common is because so few attackers ever have to pay for their crimes. To that end, it's critical that every resource possible for getting sexual assailants into court should be tapped--it's not just a matter of justice, but also a good deterrent for would-be assailants.
