History of contraception
Through Brutal Women, the Contraception Museum has opened.
It's always humbling to look at the variety of bizarre and stomach-turning methods that people have used in the past in order to control fertility. Abstinence-only proponents should all have to consider this poster of various contraceptive devices from history and realize that if these devices couldn't scare people off having sex, nothing can. I mean, a lemon half? Ew.

heh... and to think these kind of people still exist right to this day.... (think Bush-voters) who believe that a woman shouldnt have the right to abort (try telling men that they dont have the right to ejeculate) and theres even news of some senator trying to get a new law that will fire any single woman teacher who happens to get herself pregnant...

Ha! There's a way to get the aging yuppie Boomers to worry about reproductive rights. After all, without fresh lemons, you can barely do high class cooking at all. How will you impress your friends?

Women have always and will always do amazing things in order to control their fertility. I do actually wish schools would teach the history of contraception: it's really frickin' fascinating, and it's a great "so what were all the women doing" discussion for history class. You'd sure keep everybody interested. I didn't get the rundown on the full spectrum of contraceptive devices (including a plant that was brewed into an effective abortificant tea in BC Egypt. The plant was over-harvested and went extinct because it was so popular) until I took a women's history course in college.
Of course, parents might be terrified at the idea of what their girls try and do with lemons...
