Fahrenheit 9/11
This morning the jokey morning DJ's played the entire trailer for the movie over the radio airwaves. I know at least one of those guys was a big Bush fan last year, and he was all wound up to see this movie this morning.
There's a good chance this movie is going to be more popular than even the most hopeful of us would have predicted. There's more information in this ad alone regarding what's really gone on with this administration than on all of Fox News since Bush was elected. The trailer is pumped up with 60's music to get the audience in mind of Vietnam and their uneasy feelings about that, and it works.
Except, in a way, it's worse than even the sensation that it's the 60's all over again. There's also the sensation that it's the 80's all over again, which is only coming to the forefronts of people's minds with Reagan's death. And while there's a short-term warm fuzzy around Reagan, by November many people are going to see BushCo's problems as part Vietnam, part Iran-Contra. I'm feeling rather optimistic this morning.
